I like/love most of Chanel perfumes. The release of a new perfume with Coco’s name “Gabrielle” was a fresh breath in the perfume scene. I wrote “was” right? I had high hopes yet it turned out to be a disappointment for me.
The perfume designer by Olivier Polge composed Gabrielle, a sparkling white floral Eau De Parfume.
Here are the basenotes:
Top Notes: Mandarin, Grapefruit, Blackcurrant
Heart Notes: Tuberose, Ylang ylang, Jasmine, Orange blossom
Base notes: Sandalwood, Musk
The new bottle and packaging designed by Sylvie Legastelois took 5 years to design. Really? Five years to design this bottle? Yet, it looks so much like the other Chanel bottles.
The perfume opens with lots of citrus/mandarin and moves into a sparkly floral tone. The musk and sandalwood are very light. The perfume was designed to be bright, and sparkly white floral but when I smelled it I immediately thought I smelled this one before. Nothing new, nothing exciting. Inoffensive at best. They played really safe with this one. The perfume is easy to forget and lacks complexity.
Sillage and longetivity on the skin is weak and gone in 2 hours.
Overall, I am a little sad as I was really expecting something novel. I find no reason to recommend this one. There are more memorable white fresh florals out there.

I just bought it because it was a big crush for me. I will get Coco Mademoiselle too becausr they are fabulous together. I’m not a Chanel fragrances lover (I usually wear Dior, Tom Ford or niche like Zoologist) but this one got me at first smell. I wear perfume in my hair and on my clothes because I don’t like the alcool feeling on my skin, and Gabrielle stay all day long on a cotton scarf.
