Hakuhodo Brushes: Yachiyo M, G242J and G5529BkSL Review and Pictures

Hakuhodo makes exquisite brushes with varying shapes, material and functionality. They are all made in Japan.

What makes Hakuhodo so special?

• Hair of the brushes are not laser cut they are natural caressing the skin better and softer. The natural tip of the hair makes the brush so much softer than the ones with cut hair.
• They are soft and do not irritate the skin.

Yachiyo M Pointed Tapered Brush

Yachiyo M is one of the traditional Japanese brushes that Hakuhodo offers. The size is bush length: 128mm, hair length:33.0mm and hair thickness:12.0mm. It is made of goat hair.

The tapered dome end has a soft tip at the end . This soft round end helps you to pick up as little as amount of product or more if you like. Also the tapered end is excellent to define cheekbones, contouring or blending color. The tapered angle on the outside of the brush makes the hair to stay close to the tapered dome allowing you to diffuse the color with great precision.

I use Yachiyo with blushes or contouring below my cheekbones. The effect is just beautiful. It doesn’t irritate my skin during application and it is soft.

J242G Eye Shadow Brush Round & Flat

It is made of synthetic fiber and goat hair, which makes this brush durable. Size of brush: Full Length: 146.0㎜, Hair Length: 11.0㎜, Thickness: 3.0㎜.

The eye shadow brush is round & flat. It is firm and small and packs great amount of color. I love this brush because it conveys the true color of the eye shadows. It is excellent for detailed work like just applying eye shadow on the lid, smuding or use it around the upper or lower lashline. You can even use it as a concealer brush.

The Hakuhodo J242G can be compared to Mac 239 or Tom Ford Shadow/Concealer Brush. I would recommend getting a couple one for lighter shades, one for medium and one for darker eye shadows.

G5529BkSL Eye Shadow Brush round

This beauty is made of Blue Squirrel fibers. Blue Squirrel hair are very soft and the tip of the fiber is very thin and fine. It provides a very smooth texture, blending of the product and finish.

The G5529 brush has a round end that is great to smudge and blend eye shadows. You can use it for a v shape at the crease with darker eye shadows. Excellent detail brush. If you have small eyes you can even use it as a blending brush. The brush works beautifully with pigmented eye shadows or loose powder eye shadows. Size:  Full Length: 151㎜, Hair Length: 13㎜, Thickness: 5.0㎜.
