Clinique Moisture Surge CC Cream SPF 30

If you are interested in CC creams (Why CC and BB creams are different? Click here), you should definitely check out Clinique Moisture Surge CC cream. This is one of the newest CC creams and available in 6 shades. Well I was invited to try this innovative product. I was able to try 3 of the shades. The best shade for my oily/combo skin was Light Medium.

Clinique CC cream provides hydration, color correction and sun protection with SPF 30. It has a thick creamy texture in between a tinted moisturizer and a cream foundation. The texture is dense compared to BB creams and might leave a very light cast should you apply it directly.

I tried different methods of application. I found that if the product is warmed using fingers before application it spreads more easily and evenly. I also tried with my Shiseido Foundation brush and that worked great as well. Like everything, you need to spare  just a couple minutes for perfection that is all.

The coverage is medium but buildable. It could be worn alone or with concealer should you need coverage on blemishes or darker spots. If you want more coverage you can wear it under your foundation as well.  Coverage is medium similar to that of a tinted moisturizer.

Color correcting technology improves the look of healthy skin, decreases dullness, redness or yellow looking skin.  The cream provides a perfect finish with a glow.  Sometimes I have dull skin with redness. CC cream diminished those and gave a brighter and dewier complexion.

It does not feel heavy or greasy on the skin. The formula is very hydrating which might feel a tad sticky on oily skins. I use and highly recommend using a setting powder on tinted moisturizers, BB creams or foundations. That enhances the life and the look of any color including cream.

Packaging

The squeezable tube is slim and lightweight  with a narrow tip for optimal release of the cream. It is travel friendly.

Ingredients

The formula is oil free and water based. The long lasting moisture is delivered by aloe vera, sodium hyaluronate and trehalose in the formula. The hydration is especially great for dry, mature or combination complexions. Oily skins does need moisture and the cream definitely provides it. Caffeine stimulates the circulation and antioxidant Vitamin E fights against free radicals.

Two CC Creams?

In Europe it is sold as Superdefense CC Cream SPF 30 Colour Correcting Skin Perfector .

In US and certain European countries it is sold as Moisture Surge CC Cream Hydrating Colour Corrector Broad Spectrum SPF 30.

There is a slight difference between these creams. Superdefense CC cream has more active ingredients such as antioxidants to aid the fight against the early signs of aging. On the other hand, Moisture Surge CC Cream has ingredients that provides  immediate and long lasting hydration of the skin. They both have the same  color correcting technology.

Comparison of BB and CC cream

Based on my personal experience with Clinique BB and CC creams, the first noticeable difference was the texture. The BB cream has more coverage and matte finish on my skin. The CC cream is lighter and sheer compared to BB cream yet the finish is natural and dewy.
