Nude Makeup: Naked Basics Eyeshadow Palette-Urban Decay

This palette is different from UD Naked  and Naked 2. Let’s see why this palette is unique, shall we?

Colors:

The UD Naked Basics is predominantly a matte palette and complements the other Naked palettes with lots of shimmery shades. There are only 6 shades and it is half of the size of Naked palettes. The small size of this palette is great because it is travel friendly. The packaging has the similar rubbery feel of Nars’s packaging. The advantage besides the small size it snap closes not like Naked. So take it where ever you want.

Venus:   This shade is the only semi-shimmery/matte color in this palette. It is a beautiful highlighter for the browbone, cheeks and inner corner of the eyes. It is exclusive to this set. The color is an creamy off white with a very subtle pearl touch. Venus as the name of the goddess, is a natural beauty and very flattering.

Foxy:  This color is also found in Naked 2 palette but I think it was a good idea to include in this set. It is a matte light yellow color with beige undertone. It could be used as a highlighter or just to sweep over your lid depending on your skin tone.

W.O.S. (Walk of Shame):  UD describes it as very light pinky nude matte.  You could use it on the lid all over. It is great for blending.

Naked 2:  Although UD describes this color as a “rosy taupe matte”,  this lovely color has a very light mauve /mink shade with grey undertones on me.  Great color from your lid to the browbone, for a light touch on the crease or blending.

Faint:  Lovely “warm, dusty brown matte”. To me it looks like more warm brown with subtle reddish undertones. I like this one in the crease. It looks very natural and gives fantastic depth to my eyes.

Crave:  This one is a gorgeous deep dark brown/black shade. It looks like espresso mixed with Turkish coffee. Gorgeous as a liner or a crease shade. Natural, deep and just the perfect matte color for this palette.

The texture is just fantastic.  They are smooth, very finely-milled, buttery and silky.  All the colors are very easy to blend with no fall out.  Even tough they are highly pigmented matte shades, they do not look chalky or powdery at all. The colors are all full size and look much better out of the pan.  I tested the shades with and without UDPP primer. Even without the primer they lasted more than 9 hours without creasing or losing their depth.

Ingredients:

I am not a fan of talc on my face but it is OK on my lids. During my use of UD palette it did not cause any irritation etc to my eyes. The shades do not have any paraben. This palette is also Cruelty-free! :)

Walk of Shame/Naked 2/Faint Ingredients: Talc, Ethylene/Acrylic Acid Copolymer, Caprylic/Capric Triglyceride, Zinc Stearate, Sodium Dehydroacetate, Phenoxyethanol, Sorbic Acid, PTFE.
Crave Ingredients: Talc, Zinc Stearate, Silica, Ethylhexyl Palmitate, Sodium Dehydroacetate, Phenoxyethanol, Sorbic Acid, Boron Nitride.
All Shades May Contain: CI 77019 (Mica), CI 77891 (Titanium Dioxide), CI 77491/77492/77499 (Iron Oxides), CI 75470 (Carmine), CI 77742 (Manganese Violet), CI 77007 (Ultramarines).

Verdict:

A beautiful neutral chic matte palette. The colors are great for a professional daytime look, a simple yet elegant easy everyday eyes, or even build up the color for a night out. Highly recommended!

Who can use it?

Anyone who would like to have super pigmented matte colors in her arsenal.
