   Thanks for this article. I think using nanotechnology is good for make-ups. I read in your post that there has been a long debate regarding the use of this technology but I’m sure those brand that uses nanotechnology have done a series of tests so that their product will not be harmful to humans to use. Do you think incorporating more natural products with nanotechnology would be a better way to avoid any harmful side effects if there are any?

     Hi Sally! Thanks for your input btw. Depends on which nanoingredient is used. The jury is still out on this one but the nanoparticles are quite small and can get through the skin and induce certain immune cells likc dendritic cells or macrophages. Skin is the first immune barrier of the body. Immune cell populations in the skin like dendritic cells (DCs), macrophages, Langerhans cells (LCs) can react against nanoparticles. Current studies show that nanoparticles applied to the skin that were monitored with dermal microscopy demonstrated that nanoparticles can permeate through hair follicles and transiently pass to from dermal blood vessels in vitro.      Cosmetic brands do not research the effect of nanoparticles on the immune system or how it affects the immune status of the skin. There is still much research needed. At this point, I prefer to stay away from nanotechnologic ingredients. Hope this helps
