When it comes to toners, I am quite picky. I do not want alcohol and I don’t want fillers. I just want the pure flower or botanical hydrosols or extracts predominantly. Of course there will be other ingredients in it like humectants, vitamins or preservatives.
With that said, it is hard to find such toners. I decided to try Nuxe Gentle Toning Lotion with Rose Petals (Lotion Tonique Douce) (200 ml / $19.50). First of all it does not have actual Rose petals in it, it is just in the name of the product.
On Nuxe website they said:
This gentle toning lotion with Rose Petals soothes, refreshes and puts the finishing touch to make-up removal. The lotion does not contain alcohol, and does not dry skin.
It is quite gentle and feels moisturizing on the skin but it does not remove make-up – although it sounds like it. The product is more for dry and sensitive skin but would work for combination skin as well.
The toner comes in a baby pink 200ml plastic bottle with cap. The opening is more than enough to get the toner out to the cotton pad.
Ingredients
The ingredients are predominantly natural or nature derived. Starts with water continues with rose water, witch hazel water and glycerin for humectant/moisturizing properties. It does have parfum and rest of the ingredients are preservative etc. It’ s alcohol free. It is 97.4% ingredients of natural origin.
AQUA/WATER, ROSA DAMASCENA FLOWER WATER, HAMAMELIS VIRGINIANA (WITCH HAZEL) WATER, GLYCERIN, PARFUM/FRAGRANCE, BENZYL ALCOHOL, CAPRYLOYL GLYCINE, CITRIC ACID, SODIUM HYDROXIDE, ALLANTOIN, COCO-GLUCOSIDE, TETRASODIUM EDTA, DEHYDROACETIC ACID, CAPRYLYL/CAPRYL GLUCOSIDE, SODIUM HYALURONATE, LINALOOL [N2301/C].
The toner is a little bit thicker than regular toners. It explains why it feels more moisturizing.
The verdict
Pros
– Gentle calming moisturizing effect on the skin.
Great for dry or sensitive skin. Oily skin can use it as well
-200 ml is good for a long time. Good value for the price.
Cons
– It is not travel friendly.
